Summary: ABSTRACT
The objective was to select genotypes of the promising fruit pulp (Euterpe edulis
Martius) genotypes. For this purpose, 102 fruiting plants were sampled and 10,500
fruits were collected from nine populations present in the North, Northeast and
Center Serrana regions of the state of Espírito Santo. The components of variance
were estimated by the maximum likelihood method and the prediction of the
phenotypic and genotypic values by the best-unbiased unbiased prediction using the
Selegen-REML / BLUP software. We used twelve descriptors related to pulp
production and for selection of genotypes, we used only six descriptors only related
to fruit morphology. Genetic correlations and trail analysis for pulp yield (Rp) indicate
that the best selection of genotypes will be the one with the longest longitudinal
diameter of the fruit (DLF), the smaller the number of bunches per plant (NC) and
the larger cluster mass (MC), because MC presents high correlation with DLF, high
heritability (59%), and moderate indirect effect. It was possible to characterize the
genetic diversity with use from the use of 7 microsatellite loci and also based on the
predicted genotypic values of the phenotypic values. In both cases, the E. edulis
species presented high genetic diversity within the populations and low variability
among the populations, being the SL population forming a third group isolated from
the others by the three agglomerative methods: DEMP / UPGMA, Tocher and
STRUCTURE. Finally, we selected genotypes G7F2DM and G4F1DM as the most
promising for pulp production, as well as indicate crosses with G10F1SL, G2F1SL,
G9F1SL, G4F1V, G3F1V, G1F1V, which may contribute to a wide genomic variation
and with great potential for the production of pulp of juçara in the near future in the
Atlantic Forest.
